Born in 1999 in Lausanne, Richard Holzer is a Swiss-Japanese illustrator and comic book author.

After studying Interactive Media Design, he finally fulfilled his passion for storytelling by enrolling at the Geneva School of Comic Art (ESBDI). Finally able to pursue his lifelong aspirations, he flourished there, surrounded by his fellow students and lecturers. Seeking to broaden his understanding of art and diversify his practice and influences, he went on to study illustration at HEAD – Geneva, which also gave him the opportunity to spend a semester at Kyoto University of Art and Design. This formative experience allowed him to enrich his practice with new techniques and sources of inspiration, whilst enabling him to reconnect with his Japanese roots.

In 2024, he received support from the City of Lausanne’s Comic Book Creation Grant for his first book, *Hôtel Mirage*, published by La Joie de Lire.

Alongside his work as an author, he created and co-hosts the podcast ‘à l’occase’ with two friends, where they invite comic book authors to share their experiences and career journeys. Since 2026, he has also been teaching drawing classes at the Apolline School.
